Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973): Chicago Picasso. 1967 Metal Replica Miniature Souvenir Monument. Made of copper-plated metal and mounted on a heavy marble base. The back of sculpture reads: 1967 Pub. Bldg. Comm. Chgo. and Chicago Replica Co. A piece of felt has been attached to the bottom.
Picasso was tight-lipped about the intent of the sculpture and it sometimes is referred to as "Head of a Woman". The original 50 foot 160-ton statue was unveiled in August of 1967 at The Daley Plaza in Chicago Illinois. It became a symbol of the city and is often referred to as the "Chicago Picasso".

Good condition with several chips in the marble; light scratches on base where sculpture has twisted.
