William Ternes (American, 1933 - 2014): Afternoon Sun. Watercolor on cold pressed paper, signed in ink below, professionally framed. Verso shows a title card about the art and a label from Ainsworth Gallery.

William E. Ternes was educated at the University of Wisconsin and Columbia University where he received a B.S. degree in Art Education and an MBA respectively. He has studied at both the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Massachusetts College of Art. Ternes' paintings have been included in various exhibitions sponsored by the American Watercolor Society, Allied Artists, Audubon Artists, National Arts Club, and Salmagundi Club. He is a member of The Guild of Boston Artists, the Copley Society, the New England Watercolor Society and in 2007 was voted into the American Watercolor Society. His work is represented in a number of fine art galleries and has been collected internationally, including the Governor and Mrs. Peter Penfold of Tortola, British Virgin Islands where his paintings are on display at the Governor’s official residence. Corporate collections include Bank of America, John Hancock and Transco Corporation.
