Willem de Kooning (Dutch/American, 1904-1997) Manner of the artist: Woman. Pencil and crayon on tracing paper, unsigned, unframed. There appears to be a partial finger print in the upper right of the drawing.
Willem de Kooning was a Dutch abstract expressionist artist who moved to the U.S. in 1926 and became one of the leaders of the New York avant-garde. Within his nearly seven decades as a successful artist, de Kooning pioneered the gestural, abstract style of Action Painting that became the staple of New York abstract expressionism.
