Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890): was a Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life. They include landscapes and still lifes.

This drawing is consigned by a private collector in Washington State, and has the following information on former ownership: Purchased, by a previous collector, from Mark Nixon and his long-time business partner, Baron Herbert Hischemoeller van Kamphuyzen (of the Netherlands and Beverly Hills, California). Nixon built the famous "Kasteel Kamphuyzen," a 6,000 square foot home in Beverly Hills, California, naming the home after his partner, the Baron van Kamphuyzen. Van Kamphuyzen, who died in 1991, immigrated to the United States in the 1940's, presumably bringing art and antiques from his family's estate in Holland. He became a U.S. citizen in 1946. Van Kamphuyzen, who was educated at Eton in England, was an aide to Lord Baden Powell, and later became honorary consul general of the Ivory Coast. The consignor's family was friendly with Nixon for more than 30 years and the present offering is believed to have been acquired directly from Mark Nixon by a member of the previous collector's family, now deceased. 2019, private collection Florida, USA.

Good condition, with light soiling, age discoloration, remnants of old hinges.
