Temple du Soleil a Rome: A 19th century heliogravure of the study of ancient fragments from the Temple du Soleil . Published in the late 19th century, as part of the Fragments d' Architecture Antique, d'Espouy 100 Heliogravures, featuring heliogravure plates from architectural fragments of various ancient buildings and classical ruins from Greece and Rome. The plates were prepared by Ch. Schmid and the heliogravures were done by heliogravure Lemercier. Hector-Jean-Baptiste d'Espouy (sometimes written Espouy,1854-1929) was a French painter and architect, as well as a professor of ornamental design at the School of Beaux Arts in Paris from 1895, who studied ancient architecture in Greece and Italy. The prints gathered in his book are from drawings from the winners of the Grand Prix de Rome, architecture students who studied at the Villa Medici, who would then present a restoration plan for the buildings they analyzed at the end of their program.

23 x 18 inches framed; 13 x 8.5 inches plate.

The print is in great condition; the frame has a few scuff marks.
