Stanley Scott (American 19/20th Century): Old South Meeting House, Boston, 1939. Linocut on paper, signed and titled below in pencil, unframed. Verso is titled, numbered (19/50) and signed again.
This linocut showing the area in the 1930s is part of a series created by Stanley Scott as part of a Works Progress Administration project (an American New Deal agency). The other linocuts in Scott's series include King's Chapel, the Old State House, the Old West Church, Park Street Church, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, the Paul Revere House, the Old North Church, the Massachusetts State House, and the Boston Public Library.

26.5 x 20 inches with margins; 16.5 x 11.5 inches plate.

Private collection, Boston.

Condition

Very good condition, considering age. The paper is very toned with moderate foxing in the margins; heavy mat burn; edges of the paper are very lightly tattered; evidence of hinging verso.
