African Tribal Art: Kota People, Gabon: Reliquary Guardian Figure. Brass, copper and iron over a wooden substructure. This form is one of the variants found in the southern Kota group, the Obama. Early/Mid 20th century. The sculpture is attached to a display base, as shown in the photographs.
