Maud Lewis (Canadian, 1903-1970) Manner of/ Attributed: Black and White Cat. Enamel on masonite, signed lower right, framed.

Maud Lewis was a folk artist from Nova Scotia. Lewis lived most of her life in poverty in a small house in Marshalltown, Nova Scotia, achieving national recognition in 1964 and 1965. Several books, plays and films have since been produced about her.

Very good overall condition; small areas pf craquelure on he cat's face; light surface grime top center; pinhole sized areas of scattered paint loss throughout.
