African Tribal Art: Bamana People, Mali: Kore Society Post, Mid 20th Century. Carved wood with brass and remnant attachments. The stylized coiffure and headdress is incised with geometric designs. The eyes are defined by large brass tacks. The nose is pierced, indicating the placement of a former nose ring. The back has holes for decorative attachments, still bearing the remnants of fabric tassels.
