Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter best known for her uncompromising and brilliantly colored self-portraits that deal with such themes as identity, the human body, and death. Although she denied the connection, she is often identified as a Surrealist. In addition to her work, Kahlo was known for her tumultuous relationship with muralist Diego Rivera.

32.25 x 24.5 inches framed; 27.5 x 20 inches masonite.

Private collection, South America.

Condition

Very good condition overall; several surface scratches resulting in paint loss scattered throughout the composition; two small repaired/ retouched areas to either side of the sitter's face; significant moisture damage in the lower right corner.
