De l'Egypte Histoire Naturelle. Zoologie. Reptiles Pl. 6. Eryx De La Thebaide. Eryx Du Delta. Vipere Ceraste. Beautiful and antique copper engraved plate representing Vipers. This plate begins to the series of Reptiles, studied by Etienne Geoffroy St Hilaire (1772-1844), a French zoologist which participated to the Campaign of Egypt of Napoleon I, as specialist of invertebrates. The plate is hand colored. Engraved by Bouquet.

35 x 27 inches framed; 23.5 x 16.5 inches plate.

Private collection, Boston.

Very good condition considering age, the paper is ripped throughout; minimal toning; significant crease in the center of the page; surface paper loss upper left. This item has not been examined outside of its frame.
