Cy Twombly (American, 1928-2011) attributed: oil and watercolor on paper, signed bottom right, framed.
Cy Twombly was an American painter, sculptor and photographer. Twombly chose to live in Rome for most of his life, gaining inspiration from European history, Greek and Roman mythology, and his immediate surroundings. His coined style consists of graffiti-like scribbles and scratches that at first appear to be hasty and meaningless, but are actually very emotional and deliberate, suggesting subtle narratives and ideas.
