Chaim Soutine (French, 1893-1943) Manner of/ Attributed: Flayed Rabbit, oil on paper, signed lower right, unframed. Inventory number and indiscernible writing verso. This is a possible study for a painting Soutine would make later, in a much larger scale, Le Lapin Ecorche.
Chaim Soutine was a French-Russian painter who created expressive landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, with sweeping brushstrokes that distorted reality.
