Born in Waterford, Connecticut, Bessie Hazen became a long-time resident of Los Angeles, known for her landscapes, sometimes with figures. As an artist, she sought visual experiences with nature and traveled widely in California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Mexico.
