Alma Woodsey Thomas (Afro American, 1891 to 1978) Attributed/Manner of. Tulips & Crocuses in Spring, Signed, titled and dated 1969 on the back of the canvas. Framed.

Alma Thomas is known for Non objective optical imagery painting and for teaching. Her exuberantly colorful canvases, filled with abstract shapes and patterns, reflects a long study of color theory and abstraction. In 2009, two paintings by Alma Thomas were selected by First Lady Michelle Obama for the White House.

36x24 inches canvas, 38 x 26.25 inches frame.

Overall good condition with some mild surface grime. The back of the canvas shows age, with the ghosted image of some colors' oil binder migrating through. The frame has scuffs and chips.
